עֲלוּקָהf. (b. h. (?); cmp. חלק, a. Arab, ʿaliḳ) leech. Ab. Zar.12b (סכנת) ע׳ (Ms. M. עַלְקָה; Ar. עַלְקָא) the danger of swallowing a leech in drinking.Y.Ber.IX, 13c bot. (in Hebr. dict.) פשפש לעֲלוּקְתָּה a bed-bug is a remedy for a (swallowed) leech, (supposed to mean that a potion mixed with bed-bugs will cause the removal of the leech by causing vomiting).
